This year’s STOP THE BLEED® Day was the most impactful to date — with unprecedented participation, visibility, and lifesaving action.

From bustling cities to small towns, from classrooms to trauma centers, individuals and organizations united to say: “I’m ready to save a life.”

This year’s campaign featured the first STOP THE BLEED® Trainathon using the STOP THE BLEED® Training Management System, a call to action that inspired tens of thousands to:

  • Take a STOP THE BLEED® class
  • Watch an official training video
  • Complete the STOP THE BLEED® Quiz 

This campaign is only possible because of the incredible network of partners, advocates, and volunteers who give their time, voices, and expertise to advance this mission.

So, a big thanks to:

  • Licensed STOP THE BLEED® Instructors literally teaching people around the world!
  • Schools, workplaces, and civic groups that hosted community training events
  • Media outlets, influencers, and public health leaders who helped amplify our message

  • And especially, our dedicated STOP THE BLEED® Ambassadors, whose leadership and advocacy helped us reach new audiences in their communities.

And a special thanks to Shaquille O’Neal, who shared the STOP THE BLEED® message with his 31 million Instagram followers on STOP THE BLEED® Day. His voice helped bring attention to the importance of learning how to stop life-threatening bleeding — showing that lifesaving readiness is for everyone.

The STOP THE BLEED® campaign continues to grow with more people getting trained, more states adopting STOP THE BLEED® legislation and more STOP THE BLEED® equipment getting deployed. STOP THE BLEED® Day is a reflection of that as this year marked the greatest amount of activity via social media, general media interest, a record number of grant and scholarship applications and more.

It’s all about helping people to become prepared in case they encounter life threatening bleeding. Being ready to act and save a life if tragedy strikes is empowering and it helps to build resilient communities.

In between now and next year’s STOP THE BLEED® Day and Month, the STOP THE BLEED® Project will continue the STOP THE BLEED® Podcast program and the fast growing STOP THE BLEED® Ambassador program. And stay tuned for more news about the Would You Know initiative!

While  STOP THE BLEED®  is about getting people trained and equipped, it all starts with making people aware of the campaign.  We know that once people find out what STOP THE BLEED®  is all about, they’re interested to learn more, and then to become trained and ready to help out if tragedy strikes.  

We’ve found that one of the great ways to get that conversation started is to ask one simple question:  “Would You Know What To Do……..?”  The usual answer is no.  

Our goal is to someday make “YES!” the most common answer.How do we get there?  With your help.  Visit the “Would You Know?” page and help us spread that question far and wide.  It’s easy to do, it’s fun and it will make a difference.

Grants up to $100,000! https://stopthebleedproject.org/announcing-2023-stop-the-bleed-grant-program/ Mon, 03 Apr 2023 13:37:00 +0000 https://stopthebleedproject.org/?p=78628 We launched the 2023 STOP THE BLEED® Grant Program today, with grants ranging from $1,000 to $100,000 in value.  The grants consist of US Department of Defense licensed STOP THE BLEED® Equipment and are designed for organizations seeking to enhance their ability to address a bleeding emergency through training and the installation of public safety infrastructure.  Applications are now open to eligible U.S. based organizations. National Nurses week, EMS week and so many other health and safety focused activities. It also means that National STOP THE BLEED® Day is less than 3 weeks away!

The National STOP THE BLEED® Day project has been busy since launching this year’s effort, running the Scholarship and Grant programs and most recently, launching the NEW STOP THE BLEED® Ambassador program, now with more than 1000 Ambassadors from the US and over 15 other countries. This group is already making a difference in their effort to create more awareness of the campaign and by sharing information to help one another. It’s been great to see their enthusiasm and effectiveness!

Our Grant and Scholarship programs have been active as well – with many applications made for each. We’re looking forward to announcing all of the winners on May 20, 2021 – one of many exciting activities planned for National STOP THE BLEED® Day. To do that, training equipment is needed – lots of training equipment. Proper training equipment can be hard for some organizations to afford, which is why we’re announcing the STOP THE BLEED® Training Kit Grant program, funded by the Stop the Bleed Coalition. It’s designed to support schools, government agencies, non-profit, civic and faith-based organizations responsible for training their communities, who lack the funds to purchase training equipment directly. Beginning today, qualified organizations can apply for a grant here.

Grantees will be awarded a free STOP THE BLEED® Training Kit (a $1,000+ value) suitable for teaching the hands on portion of the American College of Surgeons STOP THE BLEED® course.

Grantees will be announced and notified on National Stop the Bleed Day (May 20, 2021) and the STOP THE BLEED® Training Kits will be delivered to grantees in July 2021.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of 2021 STOP THE BLEED® Day (May 20, 2021) and hope you, your family, your friends or your organization – whether it’s a school, a company, a faith based, non-profit or government organization – will get involved.

We hope you will join the millions of people who have gotten trained so that they can save someone’s life. We hope you will encourage others to do the same. Are you part of an organization? A growing number are taking steps to ensure their community is ready to STOP THE BLEED®. You can make your organization one of them.

STOP THE BLEED® Day itself is over two (2) months away but it’s not too early to start planning what you can do on that day and to participate in the programs running from now until then.

Our programs this year include a repeat of our popular National STOP THE BLEED® Scholarship program and a NEW Scholarship program in recognition of Frontline Families.

If you are a high school student or if you know one, applications are now being accepted for both STOP THE BLEED® Scholarships program.
